What's Your Story? Meet Megan Nicolet Written by: Dillon Kimmel |
Megan Nicolet’s faith in Christ is no new thing. In fact, Megan does not remember exactly when or how she accepted Christ because she was only five years old when she made that decision. She did say, however, that as she has grown up, she has matured spiritually as well. "The older I get the closer I've grown to Him and the more my faith means to me," Megan said. Megan began attending The Pointe in July after the Three Rivers Parade. To publicize the start-up of the church, The Pointe had a float in the annual parade. "I was looking for a church where I could find friends in youth group who wouldn't ostracize me because I'm home schooled," said Megan. She explains that excatly what she found at The Pointe. NEXT THING YOU KNOW...
A few weeks later, Megan got involved with the children’s ministry at The Pointe. "I began helping with the children's ministry
and I now teach Sunday school for children ages six weeks to two years. I just love kids. They are so full of energy and so fun. They just love any little bit of attention you give them," said Megan. Megan’s favorite bible verse is Joshua 1:9, which reads, ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ Megan said this verse was especially helpful while in El Salvador. "I'd had a pretty discouraging day one day in El Salvador and the next day in devotions, there that verse was. It jumped out of the page at me," Megan said. Megan also rediscovered her favorite worship song while in El Salvador. "The Happy Song"
just reminds me of what we should be truly grateful for. I had it stuck in my head for days and it just helped make me happy," Megan said. As with many of the students who went to El Salvador in the beginning of April, Megan experienced a deep spiritual experience that has carried over to her life back home. She has felt God work in her life more than ever since she has returned to America. "While in El Salvador God helped me learn how to lean on Him and to not fear things that can harm me in this world," Megan said.
