No More Excuses: The Call of the Wild

Call-of-the-Wild2
Taking God at His Word

No matter who you are or where you come from, there is always an excuse to explain every situation.  "I can't because he ..."  "I would have, but she ..."  "But they ..."

What would happen if an individual, a group or even an entire body of believers said, "NO MORE EXCUSES! We serve a risen God and He is able."  Just imagine the possibilities.

Listen in is as we battle through the excuses we use to put of today what we think can wait till tomorrow.

Progigal or Pharisee ... God is Running to You?
Ray R. Harris, Lead Pastor

Take a look at one of the greatest stories of all time.  A father has two sons, and one says to the father, "Give me my inheritance," then runs off to blow it on all sorts of evil.  The other son stays with the father, faithful in his committment.

Which of these two would you say the father loves most?  In reality, they both had turned their back on the father in their own way.  One was an outright rebellion, the other, self righteousness.

Both had dishonored the father, yet the father's loved remained strong and unwavering.  The father held out open arms to each, running out to gather in his "lost" sons, and honoring them with all that he was and had.

When faced with starring at your own life, which son are you: Prodigal or Pharisee?  Whatever the reality, the greater reality is God loves you and is running to you with open arms to welcome you home.

God's Responses to Moses' Top 5 Excuses
Ray R. Harris, Lead Pastor

Moses was the perfect candidate.  He was the only human on the planet who had the exact qualifications needed to bring God's plan into reality.  Moses was confident he was the wrong man for the job.

Come along as we listen in on the conversation between God and Moses.  Listen to Moses' excuses.  Top notch and profoundly true.  Listen to God's responses.  Confronting the true heart of Moses' excuses.

When it all comes down to it, it's not about our limitations, but rather about God's qualifications.

Should I Stay or Should I Go ... Putting Your Trust in God
Ken Hoelscher, Executive Pastor

In this week's message, the people of Israel are condemned to slavery or to die. Those are those choices – at least the ones they could think of. They were facing chariots, the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" of the Egyptian army. They were terrified, delusional and irrational.

Life got so hard, these people started to think they loved being slaves. When Moses shows up to rescue them, they aren't sure whether they should stay or go.

In a similar vein, you and I are in bondage to whatever it is we are living for. Some of us are living to be the perfect parent, perfect spouse, perfect lover, etc.

We build our lives on this stuff. But it is bondage and slavery if we are seeking approval in those things.

When Christ shows up in our lives, he gives us freedom from this bondage - just like Moses gave the Israelites - and we face the same question they faced:

Should I stay in bondage, in what I know and understand? Or should I go with God?

Let's Get Ready to Grumble!

Let's Get Ready to Grumble!
Ray R. Harris, Lead Pastor

Taking a family vacation is always an adventure.  When the announcement is made everyone is excited and ready to hit the road.  however, once everyone piles into the car and the journey begins, the entire scene changes.

Things start falling apart as soon as the car pulls out of the driveway.  Kids cross the invisible line separating "your half" from "my half."  While mom tries to play peace keeper, dad makes the proverbial announcement, "Knock it off or I'm pulling this car over!"

Go back a few years, get rid of the car, add a bunch of livestock and millions more people, and you have the story of Moses and the children of Israel.  Exodus 15 describes Moses' trip and situation when faced with the red sea and Pharoah's army.

The Presence of God

The Choice: The Presence of God
Stuart Riddington, Pastor to Students

Graduation is a great time of year.  Seniors are ready to get out of school and move into the real world.  for some it is a scary experience, but for others it is an adventure.

As students graduate they receive lots of gifts from relatives and friends of the family, but the one gift that is worth looking forward to more than any other for pastor Stuart was spending time with his dad.

Like this, each of us has a choice to make.  We can long for the material gifts of this world, or we can long for the presence of God.  Today we don't have to be like Moses who hid in the cleft of the rock to experience God, we can come face to face with God and have a full experience with Him in the presence of God.
